Hi all

Could really do with a HDTV / monitor that has S-video in. I used to use an old Compaq 2020 (20.1" 4:3) but could really do with a widescreen variant.

Most 24" 16:9 screens seem to have only hdmi/vga no s-video ins..

What screen do I need? I know the dells will do it (like the 2405 onwards) but they cost a lot. Was hoping for around £150 quid ish.

If you get a HDTV with scart connections then you can get s-video to scart adaptors as i have one somewhere (mine is actaully a scart passthrough with composite and s-video connections). I never used the s-video connection so i can't tell you if the quality was good.

I have one of those adaptors, but haven't opened it up to see if it is actually wiring the 4 pin din to the right pins of the SCART or just converting the S-vid (with a resistor) to the SCART Composite pins.

Either way, a screen with a 4-pin din s-video would be preferable.

I think I did VGA to svideo ages ago with a old CRT, maybe you can do the reverse ?

This will only work in certain circumstances, the horizontal sync rate of just about every CRT won't sync low enough to match a PAL video signal.

Anyway, I could get an HDTV, but it's also for gaming/pc use, i heard the LGs were the best, but they are near 300 quif for 32 inch. Wanted smaller.

OK - which cheap monitor has the most input connections.?

What is it that you have that uses s-video in 2011?

sky+ box, dvd player/recorder, video player, and my amp routes s-video. Unfortunately, although the dvd-recorder upscales and outputs hdmi it doesn't route any input to the hdmi out. I have a sony 25" crt which is fine, but too big, I need something lower in height, 16:9, takes dvi/hdmi + s-video. that is cheap as.
