Monitor won't sleep

I've got a slight issue with my monitor. I've set my display to power off after 5 mins but it won't actually power off. It just sits with it's back light on displaying a black screen and the mouse icon in the center.

I did a fresh w8.1 install the other day when I installed my 290's. I had no issues when I was running with sli 670's. I'm connected via displayport.

As the screen goes black the windows disconnection sound plays (like when you remove a usb cable). I've reinstalled the monitor drivers and tried both the AMD whql and latest beta drivers.

Any ideas?

That's kind of helped, thank you!

I've now realised the PC wont sleep on it's own either (but it does via the sleep button). I've removed every usb device from the PC and it still won't sleep. So I'm pretty certain this is graphics card related as that's the only thing that's changed.

Interestingly, I disabled amd overdrive (I increase the max fan speed normally), and the monitor will now sleep correctly! Yey. *edit* no it won't. It worked once :S

But now the sleep issue, doh!

Platform Power Management Capabilities:Supported Sleep States
Sleep states allow the computer to enter low-power modes after a period of inactivity. The S3 sleep state is the default sleep state for Windows platforms. The S3 sleep state consumes only enough power to preserve memory contents and allow the computer to resume working quickly. Very few platforms support the S1 or S2 Sleep states.

Platform Power Management Capabilities:Connected Standby Support
Connected standby allows the computer to enter a low-power mode in which it is always on and connected. If supported, connected standby is used instead of system sleep states.

OK, a variation of
powercfg -requestsoverride driver \filesystem\srvnet system

Has done it, it properly slept after a couple of minutes too.

Thanks again Evelon, you got me on the right track.
