Hey Guys,

I've had a problem for a little while and am not sure how to fix it.

I sometimes can't get my monitor to display anything after switching on the PC or when the PC wakes up from sleep mode.
It's like the monitor is stuck in sleep mode, to remedy this I replaced my monitor. This didn't fix the problem so I reinstalled windows, this also didn't fix the problem. Not sure what else to do?

Monitor is a Dell S2716DG on display cable (The one the monitor came with in the box) Graphics card is a Nvidia GTX 980. OS Windows 10.

Anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?

I'd try a different cable in the same GPU port, then a different interface cable (say HDMI if you're using DVI) in a different port and see how you get on. After that maybe reseat the GPU and see if that helps.

So to get 144hz you have to use a display cable. Unfortunately the monitor doesn't have a DVI input otherwise I would use this. Thinking about it I wonder if I can get a DVI to display port adaptor.
Definitely nothing wrong with the GPU. Problem only exists after power on the machine or returning from sleep mode after a reboot monitor comes on fine. Sometimes takes a few reboots and turning the monitor off and back on.

Had this a few times, remove the power from the monitor and reconnect.

Okay but this isn't really fixing the problem I'm looking to fix the cause of the issue rather than pulling the power every time it happens. I did this with my previous monitor and replaced it for that reason.

Had an epiphany and updated my bios thought it would be a sure thing to fix it but it wasn't..
Anyone got any ideas?

^ I wasn't sure if you meant you'd replaced it with the same model. I'd be inclined to agree it's not the monitor.

This is probably clutching at straws, but have you tried different GPU and motherboard chipset drivers?

Are you using more than one monitor?
If so try only using the dell, I found that sometimes mine won't display anything if it detects the AV reciever first for some reason.

Just a single Monitor.

Updated all drivers to latest. I found some settings in the bios last night regarding sleep mode so have made some changes there. I've also changed some settings in the Power options advanced menu I turned off hybrid sleep.

Will keep you posted.
