Whats the best way to monitor my internet dropping out or having large ping spikes? It keeps happening and i want to see if its regular intervals or just random before i contact my isp about it.

Easiest and quickest way would be to setup a monitor at thinkbroadband or dslreports but you have to be pingable from the outside world and it's best to have a static IP - they're not a perfect measure as ICMP packets are the first to be dropped but they're good indicators.

If the above is an issue to accomplish then you'd need to set something up on your side of the network and will just depend on how much effort you want to put in to get whatever results you want.

Virgin can see all the stats from their end so just give them a call.

Also post the power levels from your Virgin hub, if the connection is dropping it can be because the power levels are too high.

I called them this morning and they said its showing offline to them so they are sending a replacement.

How would i find the power levels?
