Monitoring Programs, which do we believe?

As I'm mainly interested in the accuracy of the programs for CPUs I figured here was best and will get the best replies!

I was just searching some other peoples threads and there seems to be an issue with coretemp spiking to 98c, I havnt had this problem but thought I'd try HWMonitor as of late my CPU temps have been around 3-6c higher than usual.

It appears that the difference between HWMonitor and CoreTemp are indeed between 3-6c!

However, CPU-Z reports my cpu voltage @ 1.336 idle but HWMonitor is reporting it at 1.34. I'm wondering if its rounding up compared to CPU-Z as its not displaying as many decimal points?

I've heard that the general rule is use CPU-Z for voltages and believe nothing else.

I know the only real way to monitor the CPU temp is to drill it but who does that really in a practical sense? ;P

So my questions are:
What do you use and trust for voltages on the CPU?
What do you use and trust for temperatures on the CPU?

Edit: Infact I just noticed HWMonitor reports the idle temps higher than coretemp but coretemp reports higher 100%/prime loads! How strange. I think I need a H80 to make myself feel better.

What does "package" mean under the CPU bit on HWMonitor? Should that be what I'm looking at for max temp or the cores? :o

not sure what package means, but it's showing the (rough) amount of watts the cpu is using at any given time i would imagine,

Didnt even notice the watts bit, I was tunnel visioning on the temperature bit!

Not sure which temperature is the golden one to be watching, cores or package.. ideally would like to keep it below 80c overall but its on 77c max on package, highest core is 74c.

4.7Ghz @ 1.335v (bios) with a lanboyair and artic freezer pro rev2 :) appears to be stable!
