i have a Netgear DG834GT router connected to my PC (primary), xbox and sisters laptop (wireless)

is it possible to monitor the traffic and speed of upload/download with the other devices (ie xbox/laptop)

say with something like Netlimiter where i can see the speed all the applications have connected at and I can get an overview of the amount downloaded/uploaded for each month

the only thing i can see in the settings webpage for the router is 'attached devices' which gives me the IP address and a few other things

Not without replacing the router or installing something on all the machines.

IIRC the DG834GT does SNMP, so you could get overall values for download/upload for the connection, but not for the individual machines or particular traffic classes.

You do, it does, and PRTG.

... but i'm not sure the level of detail you want is available as Tolien said.

The default firewall rules in the DG834 block SNMP traffic so you'll have to run a script to open them before you can use SNMP. You'll have to read up on SNMP and PRTG first though. There was a good guide on how to set it all up but I can't find it now.
