i was about to order the sammy 226 22" from OcUK but they weren't prepared to tell me whether it would be an "S" panel model that would be dispatched, but even though i'm sure the difference is minimal there is such a stigma about it i really would just (psycologically) prefer to have the S.

so, does anyone know enough about the way it works at overclockers if i was to go into the shop tomorrow (about an hours drive) would i be able to state that i would like an S or would they still be very much "what you get is what you get" about it?

just go in get one and if its not what you want i can't see why they won't swap it TBH

Go in and ask - if they say they can't guarantee walk out with your money still in your pocket albeit slightly disappointed.

do any 226 owners know if the fact that it is an "S" or an "A" or whatever is stated outside on the box? or is it only evident once the box is opened?

you can only check by looking on the back of the screen or the menu when it's on
