Good morning.

I am searching for information I cannot find... so if someone here could help me and has the knowledge on that subject...Thank you.

Would you have a source showing who build panels for gaming ?

For example I know (correct me if I am wrong) that :

Gigabyte,
Acer,
Asus,
MSI,

Do not build monitor panels.
They buy them and do the assemblage before selling them.

Panels are mostly built by LG and Samsung.

But would you get a source with exhaustive lists of brands and who are the original manufacturers ?

Thx in advance. (BenQ, Viewsonic, iiyama, HP, Dell...)

It’s not always possible to tell without opening up a screen to check the panel being used. Sometimes it’s also listed in the factory OSD menu if there is one, and you can get access to it. other option is if it is checked or confirmed by a review site or manufacturer directly.

Sometimes you can tell based on the specs if you know the corresponding panel specs too but not always.

there’s a search tool here which will capture a lot of screens https://m.tftcentral.co.uk/panelsearch.htm

and the panel parts database linked on that page is a pretty exhaustive list of all the main monitor panels out there

Key panel manuf for monitors would be

IPS - LG Display, AU Optronics. Some from Innolux too

VA - Samsung and AU Optronics. Sometimes from Innolux but rarely nowadays

TN film - all of the above really

there are a few smaller emerging panel manuf too like Panda for instance but vast majority will be from those listed above. Remember that’s just the panel. The electronics, scaler, features, over drive circuits etc are normally added by the display manuf themselves. Having two screens using the same panel doesn’t mean they will perform the same. Similar, but not the same
