Monitors.. sigh. Help me out in choosing what way to go.

A recent move has caused a major shift in how I have my stuff set up.

Used to have a regular desk with just my Hazro on it, and behind me my LG DM2780D on a unit, which I would kick back and play console/3D games on.

I have now ended up with a single larger desk.

My original intent was to have a dual monitor arm, and shift whichever monitor I was not using to the side. I have to have the monitor I am using centred and pulled forward.

Anyway, I tried the Arctic Z2. And it was awful. It just couldn't cope with the Hazro eight very well, and every time I tried shifting one screen to the side, the central arm mount would twist.

Had plenty of other issues, not necessarily with the Z2. The Hazro holes for mounting are not very deep, which sent me on a search for something to space the bolts with, then I was going to use the z2 as a single mount for the LG, but then I needed a vesa adapter for the LG DM2780D- found one, but then my inputs were covered...

I have all but destroyed the Z2 with trying to tighten things to keep it from shifting in ways it shouldn't, so it'll be going in the bin.

I am now back to both monitors on desk on their stands.

This move has cost me a fortune, and I am literally sick of spending money.

Is there a monitor arm which is not expensive, which I can use in the way I described above? Or am I really going to have to spend a lot of money to use things how I want? Or two single arms maybe?

I also had the idea to drop both the screens and get a single larger 32 inch 3d tele for gaming, and upgrade my laptop to something more powerful with a 1080p screen. Then use laptop generally, and fire up the bigger screen for gaming (or when I need more screen real estate. I suppose this would be good in that I am now sat much further back from the screen if using the keyboard shelf - probably a good 4/5 feet... makes reading the Hazro a bit tough.

I do like my screens though... Especially my Hazro :(

And I can pretty much gaurantee when I buy something, that something will ge wrong somewhere...

Not even sure what I am asking any more. Just need some ideas. Preferably inexpensive ones.

Can't recommend using a laptop for gaming purposes, it's expensive, it's noisy, it offers the performance of a desktop 1/6th the price. I'd give the two single arms approach a try. The MDM11S is inexpensive and supposedly can hold up monitors up to 10KG.

No, wasn't going to use a laptop for gaming.

Would have something like mini itx gaming rig and that would be run on large screen, and laptop would be for general use, not using the large screen, except when using something that needed more than 1080p resolution.

Bit of superglue does wonders...

It was either throw the Z2 out, or go wild with glue. For £1, I thought the superglue would be worth a try.

Glued the middle support attachment to the support, and no more spinning the whole thing when I try and move a monitor.

Yay!

Now don't need to change my screen or spend more money on another arm or anything.

I probably should have set it a bit lower, but it will do. Also, they are not the same height side-by-side, but they will hardly ever be used in that manner. Will usually be one in use in front.

Now, if I could just figure out what it is that keeps causing random BSOD's since my move :(
