M228WA.

Basically I contacted LG UK about this monitor and asked if it was HD Ready, they said no then changed their minds (look below). Of course I have hardly any idea how LCD's work when it comes to things like this so I was just wondering if I could be told by someone who does know?

They said it outputs at 720p which I know it obviously can considering the native resolution it has and they did say the image would be downscaled but of course they did change their minds, it will still be downscaled? It wont be as sharp a picture as it would be in the monitors native resolution (1680x1050). Am I right here?

Hello, I was just wondering if this model was HD Ready? It has component inputs so I was just wondering if it was HD ready. Thanks

Thank you for your email. The M228WA is not HD ready. HD Ready is the term that describes a television that will receive a High Definition broadcast. HD compatible will display an HD image although it will be downscaled due to the inferior resolution. HD Ready requires the following:
1. Minimum native resolution of 720, progressive scan and widescreen
2. HDMI, DVI or Component connection that is ACTIVATED for HD
3. HDMI or DVI with HDCP

So for instance, if I where to plug an Xbox 360 in via component cables it will display at 720p but be downscaled as 720p isn't the native resolution. It will display a picture just like any other 22" widescreen?

Thanks

The M228WA IS HD ready and please accept our apologies for the erroneous information given. If you connect the Xbox, it will display at 720p as long as the XBox has been configured to match.
