Monitors (x2) for gaming, watching TV/films, and work (programming)

I'm looking for a couple of monitors that I will use for just about everything. I work from home so they will primarily be for that, but I will also be gaming and watching stuff on them a lot, though I don't intend on gaming with dual monitors.

I haven't really got a clue what are good or bad screens these days. I've been musing over the idea of a pair of the DELL U3417W but not sure if two ultra-wides is daft or not.

Budget upto ~£1k (give or take a few hundred) for the pair, any ideas much appreciated

What size monitors are you looking for?
Do you heavy game, will refresh rate want to be over 60Hz. For £1000 for two i would hope you get 144Hz monitors.

What graphics card are you running in your PC?
