Well early next year I'll probably pick up a new monitor. The dilema I have is do I go for something like t he U3011 or do I get a couple of Samsung SyncMaster MD230 monitors?

I like the idea of multi monitors but I also like the idea of a nice big 30" screen!

Opinions?

I wouldn't touch one of these due to the reported tinting and the medicore contrast ratio. For the price tag these things come with they don't really offer much other then being big.

Unfortunately the MD's suffer from color streaking, however they come with an excellent contrast ratio of 2500:1 vs 700:1 on the Dell and outstanding default color accuracy.


For eyefinity the Dell U2311H's are the best. High contrast, great response time and default color accuracy, but they have horrible QC so it may take you a few exchanges to get a tint free unit (this seems to be almost gaurenteed after reading the giant thread on [H[ard Forum), however they are the best solution for eyefinity.

Gah...this is going to annoy me!

I could get a 30 & 20" screen and just rotate the 20. Hmm. I guess I'd have to try dual 24" screens before committing.

Depends what you're main usage is going to be. Me personally - i'll be getting a single U3011 as i'll be using it for games and the odd movie. Dual screens are obviously great for multitasking - which is why I leave that for the workplace
