Monkey Island 2:SE mouse lag

LucasArts support is awful so I'm seeking help on here instead..

I just finished the first one fine, never had any problems so I moved onto MI2 and no matter what res i have it on, even 800x600 I get mouse lag which makes my game unplayable Fraps says I have roughly 20fps, which is same as I got on MI1.

I've got all the latest drivers for my laptop and as I said it runs MI1 fine and I even play Sims 3 and CSS on this laptop, it's actually pretty decent

I have no idea if this will solve it, but do you have V-Sync enabled? If so, turn it off.

I found the Dead Space was unplayable with V-Sync on because the Mouse responses were really laggy.

I always have v-sync turned off via the nvidia manager thingy
