It hasn't been officially announced, but in the past couple days there's been convincing rumours at World of Monkey Island;

So yeah just an every day rumour - but Steve Purcell (the box art guy for monkey island) sent in these shots:

And said "[these pictures are] in no way connected to any existing or canceled piratey project"... leaving the only possibility that these are connecting to a piratey project that's in development :D

*fingers crossed*

It's nothing concrete, but it gives me some reason to keep a bit of faith in LucasArts and look forward to the 5th episode of the best game series ever ;) :cool:
 
Im desperate for a good funny game like this. Broken sword and monkey island were amazing games for me back in the day
 
Yeah, number 4 came out a long time ago. As with any game that goes through severe graphical enhancement, fanboys weren't happy with it :rolleyes: But it was a great game. Trouble is, it's stuck at a 640x480 resolution with no AA - Jaggie Hell! If anyone finds out how to get the resolution up in MI4, they get free access to my cookie jar :p

I'm looking forward to this though, I found those games truley playable... unlike a lot of games nowdays where I get bored after 20 mins :(

Damn good and funny game too, ive played and completed all the games in the series. Really pleased to here about a fifth one.
 
I wish Ron Gilbert was involved with the series again. Since Monkey Island 2 they've not been great in my opinion.

Hedge have you played Ankh? It's actually quite a good point and click adventure with a decent sense of humour.

Didn't say it was crappy or unfunny. It just wasn't as good as the first two in my opinion.

The Monkey Island series, especially the earlier games, were my favourite games back then. LucasArts made a masterpiece and I'm glad the games scene thought so too.

The only other adventure game that came close was Broken Sword IMO.
 
monkey island 2 goes down as one of the best games of all time

thing is I could never be bothered to complete number 3, or 4


infact i struggle to do them without walkthroughs :/
