Looking to change my WFH setup and wondered if anyone has ever used a mono centre setup?

I curranty have a simple 2.0 speaker but my dual screen setup is making it hard to make it look symmetrical and when I saw a setup with what looked like one speaker in the middle I wondered how does this work for day to day usage?
I dont game often and use sound for youtube content, live radio and etc.

Am I really restricting myself with a center speaker for gaming?

Does it need to be mono? It sounds like some small speakers or even a soundbar would do what you're asking, but stay stereo.

Was the setup you saw just the centre speaker of a surround setup?
when you say stereo I always assume 2 separate boxes for left and right. One speaker for left and right doesn't exist or wouldn't function correctly?

I'll look into the sound bars, yes I know they have a left and right speaker and even 'atmos' certifications but physically for a box on your desk to mitigate sound from all dimensions sounds a bittle bit far fetch.

Its the same concept when headphones can offer a '7.1' speaker surround setup...

Any suggestions into what they have heard from is a good mix of performance and looks?
