Id never heard of this game until my dad played it on holday recently.
It sounded quite complicated but i've been at my parents the past couple of days and picked it up after one game with my dad. After that we went on to play another 20 odd games over 2 days.

Highly addictive, especially after a 'few' beers and wines

Anyone else play?

It's £4-6 in supermakets, a bit more from Amazon/online. I overpaid when drunk for a red hard case version from eBay :rolleyes:

My sister has got a deck of this game! Best played with more than 2 players but it still works with 2. Similarly to the board game you collect properties and charge other players rent while the other players try to do the same. You can get a special "invincible" card which you can only use once (but you can have more than 1 invincible card in your hand) that stops another player from doing something nasty to you.

It's a really good game for banter if you like being nasty to each other, rather like in Sweaty Betty / Hearts / Microsoft Hearts, where you have to avoid the Queen of Spades and you had over 3 nasty cards left, right or across before play.

Monopoly deal is a great card game. Quite a popular one amongst my gaming group. Really simple game to play too, and the added cards (apart from the property cards) add lots of **** you moments. Highly recommend.

I've played Monopoly for years, since being a young kid in fact as it was a main form of entertainment especially on holidays. Monopoly (original UK one) there seemed to be many adapted rules which some do and dont play - things like £400 for langoing on go, free parking you get all tax, bidding and auctioning properties etc.
Monopoly deal rules are a lot clearer and the game is much faster paced. Some games last nighter were over in 5 mins - despite being quite close. Its still dependant on the cards of course, much like the dice in original but there seems to be more strategy too

Yes play this quite a lot. It is a good fun "quick" game. The set I have was bought by my friend who is unfortunately deceased now and so it is always nice to play in tribute to his soul.

A good starter game for a board game night to get things going whilst you wait for the pizza to arrive...

For anyone wanting a little bit more from the UK classic board games, the obvious recommendation is the Settlers of Catan (or just ‘Catan’). Ways in which its better than say, Monopoly:

- more strategy;
- shorter (Monopoly always has a painful war of attrition end game);
- less downtime as you can do something small on everyone’s go;
- the board can vary at every set up so it’s always different.

If you were a family of 4 with kids ages 8+ it’s a winner. It’s also the classic game I bust out when I have friends over for drinks - easy enough to play without having to really concentrate.

Amazon link below as it’s easy for showing the right version but maybe try and buy local if you can:

I do like board games but they take time and setting up.
Monopoly deal being a card game just seems like a much easier 10 minute game when you can get a deck of cards out and its quicky put them away. Whoever at Hasbro came up with the idea of Monopoly deal is a genius

When I was 14 years old I broke up with Nicola [Surname] because she beat me at Monopoly after we watched an Oil Rig VHS copy of Highlander in her parent's living room which was a surprise to her that I thought she was my girlfriend and oh no

:(
