Monsoon compressions not compressing :(

Hello I recently purchased some monsoon 16/10mm compression fittings in Matt black, for some reason they are not actually grabbing the tube. The tube goes on with a slight bit of effort but screwing down the second bit has no resistance whatsoever. There doesn't even appear to be a mark on the tube like koolance ones do. Just via mavity the tube works itself slightly free of the fitting so I'm reluctant to put any water/pressure into it.

The fittings box is marked as WC-022-MO and tubing as WC-130-XS.

I've tried 2 different packets of tubing just incase there was a packing error to no avail.

Although the monsoons came with two O-rings I only put a single one on the base where it screws into the component. Is there a trick I'm missing with the second O-ring? .

Any ideas?

Lol balls :(.

You had a nice idea though. I just checked if it was due to the component getting in the way of it screwing all the way down and the fittings threads bottom out before it hits the fitting :(.

Silly me I should have checked before pulling apart the system as I can't do any work until it's resolved :(. Worst of all I can't play battlefeild :eek: :D.

They should work together :confused:

Is the compression ring screwing all the way down with no resistance?

Yeah absolutely nothing until the end when it bottoms out on the threads. Tube still easily pulls out with as much effort as if it were just the barb.

There's no marking on the tube to indicate that it's been pinched :confused:.

Just put a ruler across the monsoon and it looks like the OD is 17mm and the ID is 10mm(at least the ID is right but thought it would be a bit more solid).

are you just expecting to the be a tighter fit than it is, when you put the top of the fitting over the tubing is there a lot of slack or is it a snug fit?

It's tightish bit of slack.

This is koolance;

And then this is the monsoon;

Both literally just put on tightened and then released just now.

Maybe I'm expecting too much of it but it just feels wrong that it can work its way out under mavity :confused:. The koolance ones needed a crowbar to get the barb out of the tube.

I don't think it looks right - I have the same size tubing (although Primochill) and those same fittings at home but I haven't built the damn thing yet. I can look later as to how it grips. Any tubing that falls off with mavity alone is not working right! :eek:

Please do if it's not too much trouble :).

It doesn't fall off completely but it drops slightly(~2mm) from where it originally was placed under mavity. Obviously I don't want to put any water and prime the system as it might well just blow off. If it had been any other fitting I wouldn't have noticed until it was too late. The cut outs whilst pretty have potentially saved me from a wet system.

It sounds like you've bought tubing with the correct inner diameter, but an incorrect outer diameter/wall thickness to fit your compressions.

Something with the same inner diameter but thicker walls should result in what you were expecting.

That's what I thought but I double checked my orders and both tube and fitting are 16/10mm. I measured both the tube and compression and the tube is correct but the compression seems to be 10/16.

I might just wrap some tape around the tube/barb.

That is what I am thinking but the product code he mentioned should fit. Could be miss-labelled tubing :confused:

I'm in work till 7 at least :rolleyes: but I shall check mine when I get home for you.
