Just to show I'm not losing it :D. Sorry for potato cam. I can't hold a camera still :(.

Maybe I am expecting too much from it as the ID of the koolance looks closer to 12mm than 10mm and the ID on the monsoon is 10mm. So it's not grabbing as much .

I might just wrap some tape around the tube/barb.

put it round the tube not the barb, you dont want to give water a extra way out

having a Google and i see lots of ppl are complaining about the fitting leaking and not fitting right.
if your not 100% happy RMA. you dont want to be building a new system in week because there leaking

I was considering it but I was hoping I was being an idiot and had done somthing wrong. OCUK only have the 1 koolance in stock and don't know when they're getting more so leaves me with a competitor which is more expensive and I don't know if I can trust :(.

Choices lol.

Measure the tubing with a caliper if you've got it, it really does sound like mislabeled tubing or something.

This.

The koolance ones needed a crowbar to get the barb out of the tube.

If sounds like a mislabelling issue then as if it was a metric/imperial issue the tubing would be tighter on the Monsoon barb IIRC. Metric/imperial issues are rare these do crop up when mixing brands. Primochill and Koolance are both American made and so while they are advertised at 16/10mm they are actually 15.875/9.525mm (3/8"-5/8"), Monsoon on the other hand are a US registered brand but built in China so may well be real 16/10mm fittings like ones from European manufacturers.

Then it sounds like the barb on the Monsoons is undersized, hence why the Koolance one is tighter. If the barb is undersized it won't push the tube out as much and the screw ring won't make as good contact.

There's only about 1.5mm in it but it seems to make a hell of a difference. Guess I should suck it up as a loss and order the koolance ones.

Hmm how annoying :(.

The only other place in stock is expecting a 5 day delay in shipping. I'm going to have to nick my mates laptop otherwise I can't work. Silly me.

Late to the party.... Have checked mine on my primo chill and the fit snug and the compression ring will not go all the way. Grips well on the tube. So yeah sounds like the fittings are wrong then. Bummer

Thanks for checking :).

I really don't know what's going on. Any chance you could measure one of your monsoon fittings to see if they differ from mine? Would like to work out what's going on even if I won't be using them.

I've bit the bullet and ordered from the company I'm a bit unsure of but little other choice at the moment.

ive got monsoon gold 16/10 fittings throughout on mine. you only use 1 o-ring. 1 is black and 1 is uv reactive its just personal preference. im using primochill tubing and had the opposite to you i had to dip every end in boiling water to even get them on the barbs. when i drained it to add the gpu into the loop they went back on without heat but still tight.

when mine are tight if you really yank on it with all your strength it eventually comes out the fitting but you have to almost hang off it to do it. maybe a bad batch of tubing?

I have these monsoon 16/10 fittings, just tried putting one on some spare tube and it was very tight on the barb, no way i could pull the tube off with just my hands, had to cut it out with a knife.
