Hi Guys

Interested to know if anyone is using these fittings at the moment?

some pictures of them and your thoughts on the product would be appreciated

Cheers

Rich

I haven't personally, I have seen a few people buying them on here though and I think quite a few returned them due to the compression **** being stuck or something.

I have them on my machine, I didn't do mass amounts of reading on them but I found a thread where the owner of the company was present. He seemed to be very honest and said if there are any problems to speak to him (although he was in the US - although having said that so am I now :D - I wasn't then).

I did read of one guy having problems with them seizing, so I assume that means the outer piece didn't unscrew properly and actually unscrewed the whole thing? I checked out each fitting before I put it on and tried to use the threads to make sure it was nice and clean and smooth (i.e. I screwed the outer ring on/off many times).

I will say that if I just try to turn the outer ring then yes the whole thing can try and unscrew, but I just hold the tube at the same time and it opens up just fine. I haven't taken them off recently though, and my setup hasn't been running that long either, so things could change.

I got them because I really like their look :)

There are some pictures in my thread here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18437222

I think I have some better pictures of them from before I installed the components, too. Not sure what you were interested in from the photos but let me know and maybe one of them will help.

Rich,

I have been using these fittings for a while now and have found the following:

Yes they look great, but I too have had the problem with tubing just being a bit too tight - so very awkward to unscrew without the other half of the fitting undoing as well - a bit irritating.

Surprisingly I also found that their quality was a little lacking - I have the chrome ones and if you are not careful how you treat them the chrome scratches or chips a bit too easily for my liking.Having their little tool to do them up etc helps.

I also found that the screw on parts were a little thin so if you grip too tightly it was easy to distort them, and make them slightly oval in shape.

Overall a nice idea from Dangerden - but not up too their usual high standards of manufacture i believe - a little dissapointed, but still using them as they look great.

Conclusion: I would still reccomend them surprisingly - but be prepared for a bit more effort in fitting them, and take your time - also they work best with thinner wall tubing as this does away with some of the above problems. I would post pics of my setup with them in use, but don't have a camera at present:mad:

Hope this helps, and will answer any questions people may have. I hope Dangerden will re design these slightly, and version 2 will solve the above problems.

Rich are you asking for personal use or a potential item to stock?

Get some DD cases, more specifically the DD Double Wide 21 :D

They are very nice looking fittings, but have to watch the size of them.

i have 1/2 3/4 tubing and fittings to match and they will not fit side by side on my heatkiller 3 cpu block. i had to use only one and a right angle fitting.

Mine are still sat in their box, they do look absolutely fantastic, but imo a classic case of fashion over function has let them down too much in my eyes, you might have better luck if you're buying some so i'd say go for it, and good luck :)

Some thread revival :D

Any chance of OcUK stocking Monsoon stuff? As I've just seen the Monsoon Lightport's and I'm blown away, what an incredible way to add light to a rig! Also love how they have different size rotary angle fittings to match the monsoon compressions, so the whole assembly looks flush.

C'mon RJK I know you want to :D

You do realise that Dangerden ceased trading a few months back? A great shame as I agree with you - I also like the look of the lightports etc. There is stock available elsewhere in the UK, but I cant say obviously.

Was under the impression monsoon was a separate company, as monsooncooling.com is still active and does list danger den as a reseller (be it former now!).

I do know where to get them in the UK I'd just rather as usual, buy from ocuk :)

Edit: monsoon made a d5 res combo for danger den that was sold under danger den branding, perhaps where the possible confusion stems from?

Weve got there new ones on the way to test out. they sent us some samples to play with of the new versions. BTW DD no longer owns the company that make them.

Thats good to know (that they're still a fully functioning business).

Can you share any info on these new fittings Mlwood? Also any idea when the new ones will hit the market? Hope to buy in the next 4-6 weeks :)

Thanks for that - I was not confused as such - just did not know the fittings were made by a separate company, Still good news though as I can now look in to getting some of those lightport fittings.

Yep they look amazing :D

Its all good Mark, up until a few months ago I thought they went down with DD as well, they seem to be expanding their range too.

Absolutely desperate to get as much Monsoon as possible in my new build, just be a nice break from the usual boring knurled knuts :D
