Monsters: Dark Continent

Not a whole lot of information out at the moment, but seems to be going in a different direction to the first film.

I am still quite looking forward to it though as I was a really big fan of the first film so hopefully it can maintain some of what made that one good.

Not liking the look of that, loved the first one to bits. Would have loved to see Edwards do a sequel in his style but considering he's busy with Star Wars and Godzilla 2

I still can't decide if the original was a wee gem of movie or the biggest pile of turd.

Not realising this was a sequel, I had a watch of the first.
Given that it was the directors first movie, and a budget of 800k. I think that it can be forgiven for not being the best thing you ever going to see.
That said I liked it to a degree, the budget obviously meant that the monsters were a side not to story between the characters, but I liked the suspense from that, and the effects were still good when used. The main actors did a good job also.

I think to be honest if it goes all Michael Bayesque in the sequel it will ruin it and just be another cheesy pile of turd not to dissimilar to Battle for Los Angeles or Skyline.

I really liked the first film, and I think I'm the only person I know who did!

I liked the fact that it was quite subdued and slow paced, it was a great character driven plot which was in essence a love story that just so happened to be set in an alien infected exclusion zone!

This sequel looks like just another carbon copy "action film", losing all the elements that I liked so much about the first one. Think I'll give it a miss.

. I found it slow and moody... I liked it too!!

Yea the first film was great with characters who were actually interesting.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the sequel will focus on the characters too although the the sequel doesn't have me holding out too much hope
