Montevina isnt a chip, its a laptop platform. IE its the 'new' Centrino.

It's going to use Penryn processors, although it may well be able to support Nehelem in the future who knows.

Third paragraph:

"He said that Montevina will span the full range of notebook design from mini-notes to full-sized desktop replacements. "

Desktop 'replacement' is a term for a large fully featured mobile computer, which can be used as a replacement for a traditional desktop computer. (Note when I say 'large' I mean as in full size keyboard/screen etc. Can be as large as traditional 'laptop' computers, rather than the more compact notebooks.

Its still the Centrino replacement, it clearly says its using a Penryn processor, not to mention we already know that after Penryn comes Nehelem.

The entire article is about the mobile 'Platform' and in intel speak a platform is set of guidelines and specifications for building a computer. Viiv for example is intels 'platform' for media/entertainment computers.

Aye, Tis true !

Always nice to hear what's coming next in terms of platforms. Centrino's very good... but nice to know there's something even better around the corner ;)
