Right, Im trying to decide where to go for my F1 fix next year. So far im thinking Spa, Silverstone, or Monza. Ive done Spa and Silverstone so know what to expect, but ive never done Monza. So Im after advice from anyone who has.

I like the look of the Grandstands at the first chicane, or possibly the Ascari chicane. Do you still get general admission or roaming grandstand seats on Friday and Saturday with these as you do at Silverstone?

Where did people stay? Im thinking of going to Milan for a few days too, so is it possible to commute from Milan to Monza?

Cheers.

From what I can remember......

First chicane is awesome, saw loads of overtakes two years ago. Ascari is probably a good one too.

I think the tickets are roaming as we seemed to be able to watch from anywhere but most of the areas are just grassy bits and not really stands.

We stayed in Milan and it's very very easy to commute. IIRC, there's a train from Milan central right to the track on Fri/Sat. I seem to recall some issues on one of days and we had to get a taxi, but I honestly can't recall why, but I belive you can get a train all 3 days, only a few Euros a ticket too.

A lot of the racetrack is uncovered so if it chucks it down, you will get drenched, we did. If it's hot, you'll melt.

It is a fantastic experience though (except everyone smokes) and I highly recommend it.

Oh, and with Grandstand tickets, you get to go down the pitlane on the Thursday for no additional cost, nearly got run over by a few cars being pushed around. Don't forget to run onto the track at the end either :p

I've been to Monza, you want the grandstand - think its 12 or 13 that looks onto the straight going to Ascari, you can then get the view of the cars coming towards the chicane, going around the chicane and the cars leaving the chicane.

When I went in 2005, I stayed in Milan and commuted over, was relatively easy to do.

Yeah, im thinking either the first chicane or Ascari are the best bets.

Ill check out the TV coverage of Monza this year, try and convince the GF its a good idea :)
