Hi all,

Just wondered if this is something many people do and what the general consensus is from employers?

My CV has gone across to two of the largest global companies today and one is a 9-5 position whilst the other is whenever I want as long as I put in a minimum of 10 hours a week.

In theory I could do both, but I am guessing I should tell them both.

I don't think it would go down well though potentially as they are competitors lol.

Although there is no conflict of interests with the work I would be doing for them I'm a little unsure if it's a good idea. But I could really use the money.

Thanks,

G

It's often written into contracts that you've got to inform your primary employer if you accept any employment outside of that role as it may impact on your ability to do the role required. It's not even necessarily about whether there's a conflict of interests but more simply that you may spread yourself too thin so to speak which would affect your work for them.

There's also tax implications possibly which the companies might need to be aware of hence another good reason to inform them but it's up to you of course.
