I was following a dirt-bike style of motorbike for a few miles and was concerned about the rider's riding style. The bike itself had no brake light or mirrors.

The rider chose very poor road position - failed to indicate numerous times and also didn't once look behind themselves.

It would be nice if someone could have a word with the rider and maybe give them some pointers on better road-craft, and the lack of brake light is a concern.

I know this sounds a bit preachy, but I *think* the rider is a young local girl. If it is who I think it is, I helped scoop her up off the road late last year after a minor crash so maybe some road advice might help.

So - ignore it or have a word with the local PCSO we have in the village who may have a word?

Cheers :)

Wait, she's on the road nobbing about on a dirtbike without a brake light, mirrors and not indicating?

I would report her ass before she kills herself or others.

If you feel her riding style and indeed the standard of her bike is potentially putting her and other road users at risk then I don't see an issue with reporting it.

Sounds a bit busy to me, I know you have good intentions but it may not come across like this to other people.

I think he's saying the OP likes to spoil others' fun, but I'm not fluent in dumbass so could be misinterpreting.

Hmmm, possibly, though not sure how kicking a ball over the fence could kill someone.
Probably misinterpreting, as you said.

Grumpy old men. Get a life!

So obviously we can all assume you're a young, unlearned Chav that's hasn't yet had a life? ;)

Moving on...

Does the bike have a plate? I'm not sure on the laws on lights for daytime only bikes. I see a lot of people riding their dirtbike's up onto Dartmoor without plates etc, but what are you gonna do eh?

Best you can do is report for dangerous driving? (if that was what you wanted to do). Worst thing would be to find this kid wiped out somewhere. Remember, dirt bikes are relatively cheap... the trailer and tow vehicle are not.

To clarify-the bike did have a number plate but no brake light. I don't know if that makes it illegal. I guess I'm more worried about the rider's poor road craft. I'm certainly not out to stab anyone's football, but would hate to see the rider get wiped out because I did nothing.
The roads round here are 'country lanes' with poor visibility round the corners. When you see a rider going round bends well over on the wrong side of the road at speed, that to me is a concern.
I think approaching them direct would not be a good idea, as I'd probably get a curt response. Tricky :/

It needs a brake light to be road legal (unless it's a moped that's older than 1980-something).

I wouldn't even give this a second thought. Report her or at least talk to her and tell her that she's being a numpty.
