Hi guys I just found in local add of '
Mordaunt Short Avant 906i + 903i + 905i + 309i speakers'
Are they any good? The seller wants 330 for them and they are in excellent condition? I never heard of this company, to be honest

The seller also sells
Yamaha RX-V1900 7.1 Channel 130 Watt Receiver any views on that receiver?
Again I would be thankful for advice

Mordaunt Short have been going since the 70s. They make good budget speakers along with Tannoy, Mission, Wharfedale, etc.

Whether they are worth £330 though, I don't know. I'm not that good with the used values of 5.1 speaker packages.

Yamaha receiver is a good one. About 10 years old now, but was around £1k at the time. Depends what the seller is asking I guess.

He's asking too much for that AVR, it's quite old, and AV amps plummet in price.

As for the speakers, google each speaker, total them all up and see what the grand price is relative to his asking.

Agreed, far too much for an almost 10 year old receiver. Probably worth half that. I think the price of that model was increased to £1k, so it would have been less than that at one point. Unlikely anyone wanting that much will accept £100-£150 less than what they are asking, so probably best look at other cheaper options.

Good speakers hold value much more than AVRs do, as tech moves on much more than it does for speakers, so while cheaper would be better, £300 isn't overly expensive for what they are. If you were looking at new speakers, you'd have to pay £600-£700 for a set of similar quality.
