More fans vs bigger rad?

So I'm running an overclocked/unlocked X4 B50 and a GTX480 (stock due to heat) all through a dual rad with a pair of fans in pull.

I've got two options as I'd love to push things up a notch :D

  • Option 1 is the sure fire triple rad route, I gain +50% cooling surface over my double. The downside is the cost and the effort to drain, retube and refit my loop.
  • Option 2 is the lazy mans way out. I stick 2 more fans on the rad and get some push/pull going on :D cheap, cheerful and easy.
So what I'm asking is how much of a difference will push/pull make over pull alone?

I have this rad: EK CoolStream Radiator XT 240

Thanks for your time.

Personally I've gone for a bigger rad, but that's just my preference to run things with quieter fans.

Another option for you is to check out the cfm of your existing fans, then get something more powerful.
