I went to Iceland the end of September and first week of October, I originally wanted to do a loop but we thought it would be too difficult with our 18 month old daughter in toe so we rented a cabin north of Reykjavik and did some loops from there.

Day 1 was Snaefellsjokull national park. This is the volcano that hosts the entrance in Jules Verne's journey to the centre of the earth.

We were also treated to some Northen Lights, this is a relatively week display (k index 1 out of a possible 9) It's a bit brighter in this photo than to the eye but it's a good representation of what it is like.

The photo was taken from our front porch.

This evening there was a CME that hit earth resulting in a class G2 magnetic storm, unfortunately it was cloudy but you could still see it through the cloud showing just how bright it actually was, we saw some yellows and purples but they don't show on the photos.

Some are panoramic and some are cropped. They have all been resized to 1024 wide so the really thin ones are the panoramic ones with the exception of the glacier and the one of the basalt on vik beach which were two photos in height. I will mark them later if you want me to.

We just went for 5 nights, flew with wowair from Gatwick which was £69 each way + Luggage if you need to check a bag.

There were 3 of us, so we split the cottage 3 ways, the one had was around £480. There are cheaper available if you don't mind being in a cluster of cottages. There are also others that are vastly more expensive! This one was pretty much brand new and the setting is really nice.

I found it on here: http://www.homeaway.co.uk/p1055323
