More Idiocy All Round....

As many of you may well or may well not know I work for a larger supermarket. Well yesterday I had the great priviledge of throwing away around about 400 litres of oils and additives. Why? Because of a legal case against our store regarding the oil. So obviously we should throw it all away. Stupid.

Heres where it gets REALLY stupid.

Me: So whats the court case about?
Boss: Some guy used the oil on his car and claims it destroyed it
Me: Oh right, what car did he have?
Boss: Porsche 911 i think
Me: Erm......
Boss: What?
Me: You do realise what all this oil we're throwing away is right?
Boss: No, what?
Me: It's Castrol GTD
Boss: So?
Me: What the **** is he putting Diesel oil in a Porsche for?
Boss: Ah, must've been this stuff then...
Me: Hope not.
Boss:Why?
Me: You see that's two-stroke scooter oil
Boss: Ah.

We dont have any petrol oil in and this oil was clearance. Some idiot dumps diesel oil in his porsche and blames us when it gets car-AIDS. Then as a precaution we destroy 400 litres of it.

Gotta love supermarkets.

Have you considered the possibility your manager might not have a clue what car it was?

Definately was a 911 - i've spoken to the store manager since.

I'm more dubious about the fact that someone capable of performing an oil change could make such a ridiculous error. Scooter oil only comes in tiny bottles for starters .

Scooter oil was a suggestion made only by my manager, it was the GTD. You obviously havent worked in a supermarket - the amount of people who didn't know GTD was for diesels is outstanding. Just because people have a a bit of money doesnt necessarily mean they are any less stupid than anyone else, any idiot can change oil with a manual.




I'd love to have thrown it in my boots but the store does a wonderful policy of not letting staff have any goods it decides to waste whether they are fine or not.

It's also tricky trying to get all that oil out the door under your shirt!

I merely put it onto several cages ready for disposal. It will more than likely have gone down the compactor though.
