More Mini Woes.

The Mini has developed yet another problem. So called the rear crank shaft seal has gone, causing it to drip oil - a lot of it. It is an engine & gearbox out job. Any idea what this would cost to put right? So far, only been told by a local indy that it would be 300 just for the engine and gearbox to come out.

Any other Mini owners experienced this? Is it common like the steering rack problem - which has also happened on the car.

Unlucky.

I can't say i've ever known a Crank Shaft Seal to go on mine (Or any of the clubs) to go..

Then yeah, it is common and will eventually destroy the clutch.

Also you dont need to take the engine out, the gear box can be pulled out on its own with out too much of a issue.
