According to Nvidia’s internal benchmarking, its Windows 7 driver is much faster than ATI’s. The claims comes from recent testing done with ATI 8.561 drivers modified January 11th 2009 versus NVIDIA 181.65 beta drivers, both tested on the same machine.

Here's an idea, how about releasing a good card that doesn't cost 2 months' wages... think of all the money you could save on propaganda schemes.

I think this is getting to the point where nvidia and it's tricks are putting people off buying them it was a minor consideration for me when i was deciding what card to get as i don't think nvidia should profit from some of the scummy things they are upto right now.

They're running scared, this year is going to be terrible for hardware and they think the best solution is further splitting up the market and cooperation.

It would help if they posted some more details ... Resolution, AA etc ....

My understanding was the 8800GTS, 9800GTX, 9800GTX+ and GT250 were direct competitors to the 4850

wheras the 8800GT, 9800GT and the yet to be anounced GT240 ;) were competitors for the 4830.

I'd expect them to trade blows .....

Nvidia do make me laugh .... our drivers for an operating system yet to be released are better than out main competitor ... they must be really desperate for something positive

Its amazing how things have changed around here, as not so long ago you couldn't post anything negative about Nvidia due to the usuals, and heres yet another Nvidia bashing thread where they havn't appeared. :p

Yes of course, their new products are terrible, the 8800-range was one of the best product releases ever?

the 8800 range brought high performance along with DX10, the 9800 series improved on that but the 2xx series seems like its just a transition stage where they would rather spend more time making jokes at ATI when its not needed.

we are preferring ATI because they are bringing performance along with a very nice price tag.

look on any survey [such as the STEAM hardware survey/futuremark etc]
its a 70/30 split in nvidias favour
i guess it goes to show that their marketing works
slapping their banner all over games like bioshock and crysis puts novice shoppers under the impression that as long as you have an nvidia card in your system - that its going to play the game no problem

ive lost count of the people who have started conversation with me saying "do you reckon my laptop will play [game title]"
for me to say, "what graphics card are you running"

their reply...

"nvidia"
no model number, no clue on performance - just that its nvidia so it should work right?
kind of misleading i must admit [coming form the guy with two nvidia cards humming away next to him]

personally i think their drivers are more solid than that of ATI

thats why i have gone for nvidia cards since the 8800 series lauched

whilst ati still have great cards on the market and agressive pricing, it does feel that the framerate in real world apps is just too choppy compared to the nvidia equivalent

thats just my opinion from playing games on both with same settings

i remember 2 years ago this very forum was full of people ready for a witch hunt against anyone who said a bad word about nvidia
