More RAM or Faster RAM

HTPC needs a little more RAM so its getting the 1333Mhz XMS3 from my main rig.

The question is do i go for 2x8Gb sticks or 2 faster 4Gb sticks, have about £50 in mind so may get the sammy green, only having 2 Dimm's i'm a little limited for future upgrade.

Basically is it worth going to 16Gb for a gaming rig and i guess whilst i'm at it am i likely to see a performance boost from faster RAM.

EDIT: must be low profile as the XMS3 only just fits under the cooler

I would definitely go for the 16GB.

If you can afford it get the sammy stuff you won't believe how low profile it is and clocks nicely, have 16gb at 1866 after 2 seconds in the bios will push a lot harder when I have the time.

also i have noticed 0 difference going from 6gb to 12.

the thing to remember with the Samsung green is the OC speeds are not guaranteed

The HTPC is getting the old ram, the new stuff is for my gaming rig
