Heya guys, just having a quick think about another possible upgrade and possibly courses of action:

Current spec is:

E8400 @ 3.0ghz on an Asus P5N-E SLI
4GB PC6400
60GB SSD
Radeon 4890 1GB
Sound Blaster X-FI Music
2 x 750GB HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I'm looking to start playing more games again, Star Trek online open beta starts tomorrow, and Star Wars: The Old Republic coming later this year (apparently)

I'm looking to either go the more expensive route and get a new board that can take faster RAM, and some faster RAM.

Or I could upgrade the current RAM to 8GB for about £50-60

Or..leave it as it, and assume it'll be enough for now?

Steering towards option 2 at the minute, or is it not worth throwing more money at "old tech"?

Cheers :)

i doubt you will see any performance gain when gaming from more/faster RAM.

The gpu will always be the bottleneck, provided the cpu is half decent.

Stick that money u were gonna spend in a jar and start saving for a new rig in 18-24months when it starts struggling with the latest titles
