Got my 226BW on Friday guys, and I am SO gutted !!!!

Built my PC yesterday and it took me the whole day to complete ( cut fingers and all ). Last night when I fired it all up you can imagine my reaction when I saw what looked like a starry night !!!!!

There are about 40 stuck pixels all over the screen that I could count (watching a black background). There are also very bad backlight bleeding issues - a dark blue corner on the top left and right side also has a very blue glow ( again watching on black backgrounds ) it's almost as if someone put a magnet on top of the screen and moved around the edge. So and all in all just a rubbish panel i think.

I am now so put off that I do not want to have another 226BW, and I'm now looking for an alternative, I just cannot take a chance on another 226BW because I'm moving abroad in two weeks, and will not have time to send it back again if I get another dud.:(

I've requested a RMA today from OCUK ( Refund rather than replacement ) so that I can buy a different monitor in the mean time, while I send the one back that I have now.

Can anyone here PLEASE try to recommend an alternative. I don't mind spending more, even if it means I have to go 24".

I like the look of the Dell 24", but now they have the apparent ghosting issues.

Everytime I see a panel that I think is good, someone comes along a points to a flaw . . . it's really annoying me TBH. I just cannot afford to make the wrong choice this time.

Thanks for your help !

I have the BenQ FP241W, cant fault it. I also had the Dell, lot of problems.

Oof, sorry to hear that mate. Me and a mate of mine have got this screen two weeks ago. Absolutely NO problem whatsoever, it's great. I think you've just got very unlucky... You won't get this again I think...

HDCP aint even enforced yet and you could get round it easy.

The last I read there was no info on HDCP being on the monitor or not but I guess not or they would list in specs as selling point.

Is your 8800GT able to drive it well in games at native Resolution ?

Yeah not bad, its overclocked a lot. At 730 its similar fps to my last GTX @ 660, just one notch down on the AA. Otherwise not much difference. Only glay game I can't play with high frame is surprise surprise, Crysis. Needs 1680x1050.

I've got two Dell 2407's, my friend has a 2405, and I also have a pair of 20inch dell widescreens. And they are all great. If the 2407HC isnt as good, how about the new Dell 248E, its a 'budget' screen so they have dropped the fansy 'rotate 90 degrees' mount, and removed the card readers and usb hubs, but it looks like a pretty solid basic screen, and its a great price.

As for your screen with 40 dead pixels... Perhaps it got dropped at some point after QC, or stored improperly somewhere. Probably would have been no problem to just get it replaced.

I purchased one of these, not a single stuck pixel on it! This maybe because the panel didnt power up but still cant fault it for pixel reliability... i bought an acer 24" instead ;)

Hi Corasik, I think that beside being a cheaper less frills monitor its also a different type of panel. Is it possibly a TN seeing its only 160 degree viewing angle instead of 178 degrees? :)
