You gotta remember this is all over the world - In the countries with little extreme climates etc. I can believe it... Not only because the Chinese who make it all commit suicide, but because apple want to ring you for as much money as possible.

This doesn't sound right to me. I've not known anyone who has had their iphone broken or faulty. Its like ipods.. they last for years

Yes, click above ^|^

Thoughts?

Who keeps a phone for 2 years anyway. Also if you read the post around 60% of those "breaks" are from accidental damage.

I've had my 2G for a few years now after I got an out of warranty swap after dropping it in water. It;s slow, but still going strong :D

Yer. But that leaves 40%. Water seems to be a big problem! Water going down the headphone jack hole can cause all sort of problems. Seen wi-fi not showing up because of it

And 2 year contracts :P

Ive known a few fail from water damage, one used in the rain, one in pocket of a pair of jeans in rain and one put in sports bag with wet towel.

2 out of those 3 were completly dead and 1 was replaced under warranty, the other lived again with the help of a bowl of rice.

Google any mobile phone, any graphics card, any games console, any car and read 1000's of similar articles.

Rice:confused:

The number of broken case threads in the Apple forum means I can believe that quite easily. Having said that I don't know the statistics of other phone brands.

I've never had a phone break under me however...

I'd get a gel case for it, only cheap and it seems like it would benefit you somewhat :p

The full report places it a 7% for hardware failure and given the report is from a warranty company who say 26% is a pretty good failure rate I think it can be taken that its not the big news the article makes it out to be.

Which shows that it is not a phone for me, I want a phone that does not crack it's screen from falling a couple of hundred times, one that doesn't kill itself when it falls in water ( an old SE of mine fell in the toilet and lived through it fine). I'd love an Iphone but I need phones that can take abuse, a phone with high risk of breaking from accidental damage is nothing for me. So far only SE and Nokia have proven themselves to me so far.

I had a 3G for 18 months, it never saw a case and the most that happened was scuffs on the back where it'd been sitting on the table/other surface. I never managed to drop it on a hard floor but plenty of carpets (some not so thick) and it was fine.

No one, but Apple charge enough for it to be a one off purchase so people keep them longer which increase the chances they blow up/drop them.
