Is it possible to get motherboards (these days) with more than 2 PCI slots so I could fit three or more wireless network adapters?

I know you used to have a lot, when everything used to be PCI, but most things aren't now. I had a quick look and most appear to have two only.

thanks,
Paul

I did not apprecaite that wifi cards supported PCI-E. I thought they were all PCI. I haven't bought one for a little while.
I don't have any "existing" card, so I'm looking to buy all new. Perhaps you've just suggested a better solution.

Thanks orcvader. Both are a bit on the higher side of the budget. The system that i'm looking to put together (the entire system, i have no parts yet) is related to my other post about multiple wireless networks. I was hoping there might be a cheap solution. Perhaps I'll have to just start with 2 and go super budget.

Yeah you're right, and I could get a cheap motherboard with 2xPCI and 1xPCI-E i guess. That seems to be the most cost effective solution.

May I ask why you need to hook up "3 or more" wireless adapters? I'm genuinely curious as to what you would do with such a setup :).

Why not just get USB ones?

you can't get the correct drivers for USB ones. only PCI cards with certain chipsets are good enough for my research (so i can easily modify the drivers)

well, let's say you were in the vicinity of several networks and you wanted to do things with those networks without someone else knowing, and you wanted to segment the ip/bandwidth usage for specific tasks. maybe you want to act as a freenet node but don't want to use your own ip. or something.
