I just recently dug out my old 80kg sandbag.

I used it while i was stuck in france nowhere near a gym and had to train. Carrying that around was great for getting the heart going and really working the whole body.

Also i recently started trying proper bridging. I'm very close to getting my nose to the floor.... very tiring though.

And finally... the one-handed dumbell snatch..... love doing these, although i do get some strange looks in the gym from the old bench/curl boys! hehe

Anyone else got any good exercised that they can recommend?.... i just love finding new ways to work my body.

80KG in a sandbag? what sort of sand bag was that? :D i am sure when we fill sand bags they hold 50kg ;)

Nah it's one of those green army kit bags with a heavy duty plastic bag inside 2 bags of 40kg sand and looooads of duct tape to hold it together.

lol :D i would use that as a punchbabag but i wouldnt want to lug it round with me :D

i imagine it has got some use to it though, just cant fathom how an 80KG kit bag can be comfortable to carry :)

punchbag: It's had to find a way of suspending it.... because it's so heavy.

comfort: that's the good thing about it, it's very hard to get up, so it is a really good test. Pressing it over your head is quite a challenge, i mean i can do it with a barbell easily, but the bag is a *****!

phatman, could you explain what a single dumbell snatch and bridging is?!

1h Sn: Dumbell between legs grip with left hand, right hand on right knee.... explode off floor and as body straightens out give a big shrug with left shoulder.... as bell comes past face, dip down slightly and whip elbow under and try to catch bell at highest point (arm should be nearly straight).... straighten up arm and body.
To lower... gently lower bell to shoulder, and then thigh and finally floor (try not to lose control of lowering, cos you might injure yourself)

I'm not going to personally advise doing this as all oly style lift can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

Bridge: see here. The hindu squats and pressups are great to if you can't get to the gym.

Very interesting article. Have you ever tried doing those things as a major part of your routine mate? I like the sound of the handstand pushups.

I use the hindu squats all the time, and i started practicing the bridge last week. Being as inflexible as me makes it tough.

Yes i've read Mr Simmons' stuff before.

It's just that if you come down too heavily, your spine is caught between a big weight and a solid bench. If you've ever hit your coccyx, you'll know it's very painful.

Damn guys i really feel for you, i would probably kill someone if i couldn't hit the gym regularly. As it is i get big energy rushes and feel like running around every now and again (is this normal??)
