Well im sure some of you remember the problems i had at work before christmas, Well they ended up transfering me to a different store, Now here is the new problem . They put me in a department where my back cannot cope with all the lifting and bending , I have been signed off for 2 weeks to sort my back out and then start physio , I just rang work to let them know this and they are now saying they will change my department BUT they will be changing my hours i work , The problem is i have to drive to work now because the new store is futher away and the wife doesnt have the car because of this and i have to go straight from work to pick up the 3 year old from playschool . Im really starting to think about if the company i work for is for me , But the problem is who would employ someone who can only work mon-wed :(

Sorry for the little rant but this company keeps annoying me

Regards Skywalker

Lots of people would employ someone who works mon-wed. I don't mean to be rude in saying this but I guess reading that your job involves a lot of lifting your a general assistant type role? nothing amazeingly involved or specialised?

If thats the case then theres every super market in the UK, another 101 small/large stores just like the one your working in, fast food outlets and a million and one other part time jobs.

If your not enjoying working where you are give it up, sign up with a job agency and tell them the times you can work and what jobs you can do. I can't believe the pay is enough to warrenty staying where you are and the job quality definatly is not.

Its the fact that i have a mortgage and a family to look after , thats why im still there . Im a general assitant aswell , So this only involves a lot lifting depending on what department your on , my main point is they took me from the job i was doing in my other store and put me in this new store to a department i cant cope with through no fault of my own

Did you sign a new contract saying what your job role details, or did your old contract cover the work your doing now? if one of those is a yes then you have no grounds to complain.

I think I remember your other thread and why you left the other company. They seem to be treating you like dirt and personally I wouldn't have stood for it then and definatly wouldn't enjoy "being moved" and doing something I disliked.

Ok, so you need a job. You need to keep working and cant afford to leave your job and then look for another one, thats fine. Look for one while your still working, don't even tell your current work your looking for a new job! I'm SURE you can afford an hour here or there to go for interviews for other jobs dureing other week days. (and your off for 2 weeks, good free time to start looking)

At the rate your going now you can't do your job, oviously this cannot carry on. You or your employer is not comeing upto what the contract you both signed agreed your job would involve. As far as I see It's get a new job or change your current one, if this means going to your employee for giving you tasks wich you didn't agree to then fine.

Monday to Wednesday, not flexible with work hours, back problems and can't lift things... not sure what line of work you do but my local supermarket employs a few people like that under equal opportunities.

An older lady I know got a job there but couldn't hack working in the deli. They put her on the tills and she couldn't get used to them and was very slow. Then they put her standing at the door taking peoples trolleys. She couldn't do that either because her ankles were getting sore from standing all day. So they gave her a seat, and she just sat down all day.

She stayed at it until she got enough stamps, then went on the sick.

And maybe you're annoying the company? I know the last problem wasn't your fault but they've sorted that now and moved you to another job. Sorry to say it but you have to fit around the company, not the company fit around you.

Of course, this opinion is only based on what I've read here so the real situation may be different and far more complex.

Well its the fact that my back is bad due to the company, im in a store where i have to drive to work because of the company , im in a department that hurts my back due to the company . None of this is my fault as far as i can see

You were moved because of the other complaint, not just moved because the company felt like moving you. The company have probably done what they thought was best given the situation (rightly or wrongly). Did you or the company know you would have problems with your back before giving you the lifting tasks?

And the fact you only have one car and your wife needs it as well is not really the companies fault or problem.

I'm not trying to be an arse here, it's just that with running my own business, I guess I look at it from both sides of the fence :)

Yes i was moved because of the other complaint , but what the guy said was that they are moving me and not sacking me because there was no whitnesses , evidence or camera footage

It is also known to the company that i have this problem with my back because it happened at work and when i mentioned this when being put into the job role they said "its all we have for you"

I dont think your being an arse at all , I see your point of view and appreciate all that you have said

You should have fought harder when this issue was about before. You yourself said

there was no whitnesses , evidence or camera footage

so what grounds did they have to move you. None I say, and the company just doing it because nothing can be proven is a fob off. And now you have turned out for the worse because of what they have done. If you didnt consult legal advice before I would do it now.

Well in that case I'd say they are being unreasonable. To move you to a job knowing you will struggle, whilst all of this has been caused by a case without any proven guilty party :/
