Got an interview for a store assistant at Morrisons, nothing particularly taxing or life changing I know but there's no harm in being prepared, so...

Anyone had an interview for a similar post before? What kind of questions should I expect, just the usual "experience of dealing with customers/teamwork/deadlines" etc?

Been looking for any job for weeks so could really do with it going smoothly! :D

Thanks.

Doubt it, if so it's a stupid question as most people who work there are 16 and won't have any experience.

They might ask you if you are going to follow the managers every directive despite them all being complete muppets who only come out their offices when they've ran out of coffee.

Doubt it's changed since I had one about 5 years ago. The interview itself was just asking me what I studied at 6th Form, what hours I was free...basically confirming the details they already had on the application form.

I was in your position a few months back, they just asked me about my self really, and the only question they really asked that you would have to think about is why you want to work for Morrisons. I think if you get a interview and you turn up looking half decent, your going to get the job.

As above, when I did mine it was just confirming what was on my application form and when I can work. Nothing too complicated.

Having worked at 7 different Tesco stores and seeing how some (not all) of the staff are lazy and thick as a post (I mean seriously failed their GCSE's), you should be fine.

Just don't show up to the interview with a hangover and 7 days stubble and you will be fine:)

EDIT: I have also worked with a fair few supermarket managers. 50% are normal people who can do their job well, 50% are just common, lazy and have not a single brain cell.

Really? So am I one of those Managers then?

It ****s me off when I hear people talk like that about previous or current staff/managers/jobs. Not everyone is like that.

As to the OP just be yourself and natural. Try not to be on edge. The interview you will be having is quite informal and very friendly. It is just a getting to know you session. They will ask questions, just be honest.

Edit: Morrisons is very good in the way they get staff trained up to become Supervisors or even Managers. They do have an extensive training program. A side note: Morrisons Health and safety training that is given to Managers within Morrisons is what the EHO in Bradford and surrounding areas base thier own Health and safety training on for the EHO members. Morrisons have probably the best training programs in manufacturing they are the 4th largest manufacturer in the UK (as told last year).

Yeah mate, just look smart and be polite... I worked for them for about a year about 8 years ago - it was alright, i worked on the fruit and veg bit and I ate a lot of grapes and strawberries :D.

My other concern is that both myself and my flatmate have an interview at the same place tomorrow... does this mean they will have two positions available or will we be competing for the same job? Obviously it could be either but what is more likely in the eyes of those with experience?

Only a guess, bit I would say it's for 2 different positions. As jack_008 said, the job is pretty much yours if you've been called in for an interview, providing you're not thick as a plank or wearing Reeboks.

If one of you are under 18, your chances of getting the job is greater becuase you are cheaper to employ.

The only question they asked me was: "Explain a situation where you had to work in a team."
