Mortgage Rate Rises

Very true - honestly I wouldn’t mind if one of my boys grew up to be a sparks or plumber for instance. Either that or go to uni and do a PROPER degree with an end goal of employment in sight - law, building surveying, architecture etc etc
Plumbing/brickie etc are probably some of the safest jobs from AI/automation.

I'm considering abandoning my career at the moment as I can see it getting swallowed up/put under pressure soon.

3 years ago I would have thought I have a life in this area. 1 year ago I thought I could get 5 - 10 years before it was heavily impacted. Now? I'm not even sure if I have 2!

By put under pressure I mean few jobs as AI cranks up for less pay per job.

Let’s see ChatGPT build a house.

"Your cost of sale is materially less" is not a stupid negotiation tactic.
I don't know why you're so hell bent on having an argument.. the response either "I already have" or putting it up 10k to put it down 10k seeing this coming a mile away not occured to you?

I'll assume you've priced in using PB into your invitation to sell price. If not I'll be asking to share the benefit with you.
Makes absolutely no sense, unless you have shares in estate agents or you somehow profess to know what someone is otherwise spending on an agent. They vary you know! Do you seriously hit up a seller and ask for a discount because they didn't get the premium 360 pictures, walk through video and drone shot?

You think it's a mystery that pb charges dirt cheap Vs typical 1.5%?

UK Interest Rates Held at 4.75% until February. Ouch.
Was expected wasn't it.
Higher than eurozone, fed.
Plus our highest electricity costs.
Newly announced water bills.
NI impact to costs to filter in.

I'll be trimming spending next year (except for holidays). Definitely noticing impact on basically everything now. Still buffered from mortgages costs thank goodness as that would be significant.
Can probably cut down on buying "stuff" but not really got any other fat that's trimmable.

Have to wonder how more and more people are managing. If you were "just about OK" 2-3 years ago.. You'll probably be "struggling" now.

Good times..

Personally I can't see inflation sticking round for long.
I feel the jobs market will cool and start to cause more cutting back in spending.

Problematic though... Our bills contribute to inflation and they keep going up. So although you're spending more it's not in shops and restaurants. It's on food, water, utilities etc.
So inflation goes up and those businesses struggling get hit with NI, loss of customers, higher utilities and higher rental costs.

Maybe I'm naive and job market won't cool. But it certainly feels like the UK at least is on an edge.
