most accurate app for cpu core temps?

as per title, which is the most accurate (if any) as I see between 10 and 15c differences between speedfan, core temp and everest... sort of makes one wonder

any other 'accurate' apps considered as a substitute for the above

cpu is a q6600 B3 on an asus p5ne-sli, tuniq tower cooler

They're all reading from a diode which only has any motivation to be accurate at the shut down temperature, and guessing what the temperature might be based on the signal from this diode. So accuracy is a bit optimistic really. Statistically better than nothing yes, but accurate, no.

I like hwmonitor as it lists many temperatures. It's associated with cpu-z which is a brilliant program, so it's probably as competently written as any of the alternatives.

cheers for that, sort of gathered it aint all clear cut

wierd how there is almost 10-15 difference tho and thats fairly consistant, everest being the highest temps (ultimate engineer edition albeit from 2007)

I have very slight differences when monitoring with realtemp, coretemp and hwmonitor.

The consistent difference probably means they're using different tjmax values. Perhaps 95, 100, 105. It's meant to be the temperature it throttles (shuts down?) at, and there's some differences of opinion as to what number is the best one to use for each chip. It's involved in guessing the temperature from the reported value. I'm afraid I don't know the specifics, learned enough to discard their readings as inaccurate to the point of being irrelevant and sort of lost interest at that point.

Same here, im not that worried about load temps, ive never had a cpu run anywhere near its tjmax.
