You would think the two criteria would not compute but seeing as mate who is 20 insured a Vxr corsa for 2000 today I had to wonder what is the most insurable and slighly quick car a 19 year old can have with the most insurable part basically meaning <2000 quid
2 years license 1 year no claims
no convictions
fully comp

BHP does not even come into it really.

140 in a barge might be plenty slow, but in a nice light car plenty quick enough.

It's all about context.

"Quick and insurable at 19" is a silly set of criteria.

Details you've given, few quotes with bell (Full Compy with £350 excess)

2004 RX8 231 - £1300
E46 330ci - £1400
Mazda 323 GTR - £1100
Audi S2 - £1000
Supra Twin Turbo Manual - £1000 (if you can find one!)

MK4 Golf VR6 4motion - £1200

Its depends on where you live etc. I am 22 with 4yrs driving and 3yrs NCB and on my Yaris it costs me £750 a year. If I try to get insured on anything above group 9 then it shoots up to anything between £1300 to £3000. Thats on cars like MX-5, Volvo s40 T5, Lupo GTi, Seat Loen FR, Volvo v70 T5. Best thing to do is get a list of cars you like with the details and go on comparison websites and see what is the cheapest and which one you like the best.

I'm interested in this as aged 18 with 0 NCB (and not even held a license for a year) my Saxo VTR's first year was, ahem, over £2k fully comp 12k miles:(.

But now I'm 19 nearly 20, 1 NCB and license held for nearly two years I'm thinking of moving on as the Saxo will only be £600 renewal...

@ 19, 1 year NCB - got quoted £1100 on a Saxo VTS/Pug 106gti when I was looking at engine swaps or moving car.

As someone mentioned above, i would say the biggest variable is where you live ( postcode ) that decides your fate :p

I moved from macclesfield to manchester ( M40 ) and it doubled on the same car. Sucks but thats how it is.

This is the problem, typical (but most importantly cliché) slow hot hatches, for similar money you can insure so much more!

Im insured on a Seat Ibiza PD130 mapped to 170bhp/295ftlbs. Remap declared @ £1085. 19 years old with 0 ncb
