Most Overrated Band

How are we defining 'overrated'?

It seems in the context of music people take it to mean a band lots of people like but they don't like. It's music. Liking it is relative, there is no right or wrong about whether it's good.

Well, bands that you don't see what the fuss is all about.

I honestly do not think that Oasis recorded anything interesting after WTSMG, with the exception of the odd track here and there, and I've not been at all impressed by anything The Arctic Monkeys or Kings of Leon have ever done, yet all these bands are massively popular and successful.

I agree with Arctic Monkeys.

Out of interest Von have you heard KoL's first couple of albums? I thought they were excellent, but their latest two (since they became famous, in essence) have been poo.

Hah!

For me it has to be The Stone Roses.
I just found them exceedingly dull. Definitely a case of the emperor's new clothes.
What do others think.

In your opinion which band is or was the most overrated?
For me it has to be The Stone Roses. In the 90's they were lauded as geniuses, the most importatnt band of their generation, but there music was just so dull. Couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

Recycle-tastic!

Radiohead and Muse - nothing I've listened to by either of them has ever come close to making me understand why they merit the adulation they enjoy. They're not bad per se as in I can hear there is talent there but I think they're definitely overrated.
Exactly this. Even at festivals it's always been a cue to go to the bar or go somewhere else when they come on and I can't for the life of me understand how they became headline acts

Cue the onslaught indeed, and it would be warranted! Absolutely shocking to say that Elvis was overrated, never once heard anyone say that, whether you like him or not, surely that's blasphemy maybe equivalent to upsetting a god somewhere, etc, etc :D

Hehe, Elvis 'pants'? Dear lord! :o

*Cue the onslaught of people agreeing with you :D

KoL's first albums are brilliant, and Only by the Night would have been even better had it not been for it being overplayed for three years :(

I'm tempted to say the Beatles. I really don't like U2, and Bono is a ****. But whether they're overrated.. I'm not so sure.

Green Day gets my vote.
Dookie is one of the best albums ever.
