Most overrated card ever?

I'l think you'll find a X1900 XT for £205 would better be described as stonking, and they work.

Oh I don't disagree that both the 1900XT and 1800XT for that matter come in at great price points. I'm just saying that the 7900gt overclocks so far (with the 1.55v mod) that it can leave even a 1900XT (all be it at stock speeds) for dust at resolutions of 1280x1024 and lower. And most of them do work.

NB: I've only had one for as long as they've been out, and from what i can tell they can go at any time. So maybe my number just hasn't come up yet.

Switched back to Nvidia with a 7900GT, but performance was crap on that too. Its only saving grace is the ability to overclock well.

performance was crap? how did u come to that conclusion? compared to what and at what cost?

Who in their right mind would buy a top of the range GFX card to play at 1280x1024 or lower. Lets keep this on an even keel and compare stock against stock or Oced against Oced. Its 1600x1200 and above with high AA/AF that the top of the range cards actually show their worth.

I thought the Hercules Geforce 2 Ultra was way to expensive. The price didn't drop even after Geforce 3 Ti 500 was released.

I play at 1280x1024

The 9800XT was really hyped-up as the ultimate gfx card of the time. It was all set to be launched simultaneously with HL2 at a big launch party in Alcatraz, but then Valve got hacked, HL2 delayed, and the XT turned out to be just an overclocked, overpriced 9800 Pro.

Allow me to paraphrase:

"My card with a volt mod and overclocked till its on its knees at a res THATS EVEN BIGGER THAN 1024x768!! can totally beat your card with its hands tied behind its back and its shoelaces fastened together"
Have a big fat

X1950XT, seems like it will be the new 9800XT :) Unless you intend to play at your local cinema on a screen with 10.000x7.000 resolution where the GDDR4 pwnage ram will shine ;)

But in all honesty the NV FX5800 destroys everything with regards to being the most over-hyped and overrated card ever.

I always laugh at the MSI FX5200 I have lying around. (for a spare rig.... never came near my main one)

To make it sound better it quotes "best of Toms Hardware graphics cards 2003"
then when you read it it was actually talking about a completely different graphics card, but still made by MSI :p
