Behind you... Naked!
I asked this not too long ago.
I got some great advise, and I was utterly torn, and in the end, I just bought a basic Asus memo second hand, and decided to hold out a little.

Right as of this moment, I am torn between two Tablets.

The Sony Xperia Z4 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S

Both 10" models. or 10.1 or 10.5 or whatever.. 10 inch-ish is what I mean!

These seem to be about the ones to go for yes?

I am looking at the specs and they are both great resolutions, have a nice 3GB RAM, and can take 128GB MicroSD, but the price differences are quite shocking... The Sony is basically a ton and a half more! - it it actually worth it? I seriously dont think it is to be honest, but am I wrong?

What do I actually do witha tablet that would justify me splashing out THAT much of my easily earned Giro?

I mean, am I even going to benefit from the 10" ASUS Memo that I got now?

Well, yes, I am, but head to head, how much more powerful is the Sont over the TAB S? - is it though? They are entirely different CPUs, and I really dont have a clue about the performance of them.

Please help me out.

I am buying one or the other on friday and I just dont know what I will get.

Only thing I could say makes a real difference in terms of specs is slightly better camera on the z4 and it's waterproof. Whether thats worth £100 difference is up to you bud. ;)

Personally having now owned a Z3 and Z3 compact phone, I would get the Z4 (I own a Samsung Note 10.1 and ipad at the moment). Reason for this is that waterproofing is very handy for me (2 feral children) and Sony do a good job updating the operating system when major releases come out where as Samsung will abandon you as soon as they release a newer model of device (which they do every 2 minutes these days lol) with some crappy unoptimised beta version of the latest OS (Saying this from experience with Note 10.1's, S4, and S5).

Upto you bud - I used to be an avid samsung supporter but recently they only seem to care about the latest products they can shift and have lost focus on their older range of equipment.

Well my Samsung Tab Pro, the model that the Tab S replaced, uses a 4 core CPU (2.4Ghz) and is about 10% faster (according to Geekbench results) than the 8 core CPU (4 cores @1.9Ghz and 4 cores @1.3Ghz) in the Tab S you are looking at.

They went for better battery life over performance in the Tab S apparently.

Performance wise, neither of them will outshine the other, its just a question of which operating environment and bundled software you prefer.

There doesn't seem to have been much of a move on specs over the last couple of years, as Cooper says the Tab Pro is well specced, I had been looking at the Z4 after having sold a Samsung S 10.5 but I read that the battery on the Z4 isn't great

Hmm... Thanks guys.
So, really then the Z4 is not going to really be worth the extra for me, and now that I see the Tab Pro is faster, but has a shorter battery life, then that may also be brough ito the list but to replace the sony perhaps?

Given that my Tab 3 battery seems to last a suspiciously ridiculously long time, I am thinking that perhaps the Battery life of the S may also be just as good. Therefore, the S seems top be my one to go for?

So bugger it... Thats the one... Thanks all.

Having done a fair bit of reading this weekend it seems the Z4 spanks the Galaxy Tab S in the benchmarks, I'm seriously considering one now as it seems it might be snappier than my old S was.

Very mixed reviews on the keyboard though, some say good and makes a decent hybrid some say it's horrendous, a lot of money if it's crap!

Changed from a iPad 2 to a Tab S at the start of the month. I love it, great battery life, multi tasking is seemless, the dual screen feature is very handy.

Never going back to apple!

Well, Im currently also in talks with my bank ( the wife ) as I also want to get myself a top notch PC ( SkyLake of course ) as well as the tablet, but also I need to buy a mobility scooter, and also the car was taken to the scrappies last week, and so thats something that we also need to consider too! - Im in no rush about that because I have had to hand in my licence and I am not able to drive for now, but the wife has never passed her test, so the car is the least of my concerns.

Trouble is, that if I go AMD then I cannot make this any better than it already is!
If I go Intel, then the only way is SkyLake.

Decisions decisions...

Having a tabpro and a z2, i'll say that my next tablet will be a sony, samsung's devices are great on paper, but there's just something more sleek and professional about the sony kit that imo is worth it. Given my now 2 generation old phone still doesnt feel dated in any way.

Not sure on the oled either, looks good with the deep blacks but i get the impression the sony screen will keep itself good for longer.

What do you like most AMD or Intel. I would go with Intel on whatever situation.

LOL I went with Intel.

Im happy with either. If I had to chose, I would say AMD because I just like AMD and deep down, I suppose you could call me a fanboy, and thats fine, but at the end of the day, loyalty is all very well, but if you can afford to get faster, then go get it.

I will also freely admit, that I do find it funny how people seem to bash AMD just because Intels fastest CPUs are faster than AMDs and yet, in so many cases, those people who bash AMD and have gone with Intel, end up using a slower CPU anyway??

Lets be honest... there is absolutely zero real world difference between AMD and intel for 99% of everything that the average user could want from a computer, and so bashing one over the other, I have realised its a childish thing to do.

I have a Tab S 10.5 and love it .....

After somehair removal, I simply ended up getting a TAB PRO 10.1"

There was certainly a lot of this and that, but in the last few weeks, Iahve done a great deal of spending and I decided that I just cannot justify getting the Sony.
I have the Asus Memo 10" and thats just great and does me, but the bettery is useless, and all I truly needed, is a tablet with a fairly good life on it, and I was out in the town the other day, and I saw the Tab Pro, and it was kind of a "Sod it, I will get it now" moment, and I got it.

Funnily enough, before I used it, I went online and I bought the proper case for it, I also bought a case with a keyboard for it, a tempered glass screen protector, and a 64GB MicroSD card all for it too, and I did notopen the Tab up until I had all of these just in case I made a tiny mark on it. I have put my google accounts onto it, updated it with my junk, and installed my usual apps, plus threw some videos and music onto it, and I have not used it since!

Welcome to my world!

Hey... Another one of my stupid moments... I bought a Linx 10" Windows tablet about a month ago... 32GB and so I also bought a 64GB card, and a case with keyboard for that, I have now upgraded it to Win10 just so I can force the Tablet only mode onto it, and I hate it so much, that I no longer bother with that anymore either, and guss what I did only yesterday?

I bought the Microsoft Surface with Windows RT!!!

WTF? Im getting mental... No wonder Im broke!

Sorry but the AMOLED screen on the Tab S is MILES better than the TAB PRO... it's in another league and given how much they have cut the price that is the only one I would have bought.

I would definitely gonna call you a fanboy (lol)
It Doesn't matter you like AMD better then Intel. there are so much people like you.
about the slow cpu. I change my PC in every 2-3 months. in this time period My PC doesnt show any problem.

SO yeah I have no issue with slower CPU.

Yes, I agree the amoled is a better screen, but I still could not justify the price difference.
Trust me, I have been torturing myself over this for weeks, and in the end, I decided that he PRO would give me the best of everything, especially given that I have spent so much money in the last few weeks on junk that I dont actually need to...
I have built up my Skylark PC, with 32GB, and bought all new case, PSU and HDs, and thats cost me just shy of 2 grand, I have bought myself a trike to help me start to get back on the road after my accident, and I still need to get that adapted for me, with leading links, forward controls, wider and higher bars, linked brakes etc etc etc and thats going to set me back at least another 2 grand, plus, as I said before... I dont actually need a new tablet at all... I just want one. I now have 4 10" Tablets and 3 7" ones and a weird 8" one... plus my note 3... All doing nothing.

So, no, I feel the PRO was about the best choice for me to make.

I would definitely gonna call you a fanboy (lol)

I always usually get second hand. You can get some great bargains in the MM or on the bay etc, but my main machines were bought brand spanking.

I save up for the biggies and along the way, I see something that I might like, usually cos it looks sweet, or it just takes my fancy... For example, I recently bought a Q6600 plus Moob and RAM, just to piddle about with, but I have 2 S775 systems in the attic that are doing nothing... I only got that one from the MM cos I could not be bothered to get one of the others down, now thats sad.

But hey, I got a lapped Q6600 CPU now, so, I will put it into the EVGA Mobo and have a play at clocking again maybe?
