Hey folks, I usually leave my pc running 24/7 but as its now in the living area of my home its a little annoying to hear it whirring away in the background. Of course the solution would be to make it sleep etc, but I'm planning on building a completely silent PC so I'll never have the issue.

So, whats the most powerful (and smallest) PC you can build and what components would you spec to do so. It must play demanding games at 1900x1600 and have a passive cooling system. For the purpose of this thread, I'll allow one case fan to move heat from the case under load when the system is being used.

You could make yours more quiet by controlling the fans from a fan controller or the motherboard and getting PWM fans.

Fellas, I understand all of that but I am trying to see what sort of systems people can come up with with - more of a proof of concept that I can work with to make my own at some point. As this would be completely passive, I'm unable to offer any parts except my SSD, display, mouse and keyboard towards the build. I'm not too familiar with what range passive PSUs, cpu and graphics coolers are available, hence starting the thread.

I'm not too fussed on budget as such, but looking to get the best bang for buck in value terms. For the purpose of the thread lets say £1250. Oh and intel only... cos im a cpu snob.
