Most Powerful Card to Date?!

8800GTX SLI is still a very close to bleeding edge setup - people who bought these back in the day really got great value for their money. I've water cooled, overclocked pairs that run very close behind a 4870X2.

If this Mars Bar® was DX11, I would give it a shout myself. But being DX10 only, it is possible that this 1K plus card will be outdated this year

The HD4850X2 i'm not sure about either, I think it's around GTX285 speeds?

from what i have read actually most of the time its on par with the gtx 260 unles you go to 2560-1600 resolution then its faster than the 285, because i gues the 1gb cards run out of memory at that res.

WoW thanks for all the replies and debate, I do play at 5040 x 1050 so need something meaty to push those pixels. Can I wait, well yes I guess so I am planning a full upgrade. I am currently running:

Q6600 @ 3.6 Ghz
Abit Pro
285 GTX
4 gig Ram

Was thinking of

I7?!
6-8 gig of ram?!
Motherboard (no idea)?
Maybe SLI, but am unsure whether a single card is preferred?!
Power Supply is OCZ 850 watt
