Most spacious 4x4 SUV circa £10k.

Hi all,
After some advice for a cheap tax, reliable, spacious, not outrageous to fix, economical, 4x4 SUV?

Been looking at Volvo XC90, VW Toureg/Tiguan, Land Rover Discovery 4, and even considering the Ssangyong Turismo.
We'd like a pick-up but they just don't have enough load bay to chuck logs in or the occasional sofa.

We'd like a do-it-all car but realise we may have to just get a trailer. Don't want to be paying £600+ road tax for a vehicle that might not be used much except for a 200mile drive every month.

Any ideas?

My partner keeps mentioning how her Zafira was fantastic as a do-all car. The trouble is they don't do 4wd which we'll need in Wales as the A roads aren't even B roads in England certainly not wide so off-roading will be needed.
I think a pick-up like an L200 would be fine, then get a box trailer for big stuff, but she would like it in one.

We were recommended a Discovery 4, but we're keeping eyes open. The VW Tiguan surprised us as it's actually quite a decent size with seats down.

I'll look into the Merc, Skoda and Hyundai.

Yeah, A3 is £300 to £1000 for Land Rover Discovery for same circumstances. Hmmmm lol.
Plus £30 tax to £675 lol.

Santa Fe's look interesting, as does the Skoda Superb.if it was down to me I'd be happy with a V70 and towbar tbh lol.

Those sort of MPVs were great, just like vans

As for other options how about a Renault Koleos, bound to have suffered massive depreciation by now, bigger than an X trail with same 4wd running gear in 2.0, not as big as a Kodiac. (Foot print for parking etc.)

Kodiaq is another good shout.

Kodiaq looks decent so looking for one to have a proper look at.
The DSG gearbox looks like it could be problematic past 80,000 miles.
Is it? If regular fluid changes is it good for 150000 miles?
Also mentions electric failures and £1000 bills, is this a worry?

Think we have a winner with the kodiaq. Just had a look at one and very spacious, well specced. Had DSG but no one's perfect lol.

Certainly something to look at. I've known people to have more problems with BMW's to be honest so I'm going in eyes open. Make sure we get one with a warranty.

I think this car will be one we don't get rid of for a long time.
