Wish i was in a Ramen Shop Counter
So I got one of these in the latest MOT

  • Nearside Front Suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement rear bush (2.4.G.2)

Googled and they seem like something that will worn over time anyway and how much should I budget to replace it and shall I do all 4 wheels at once?

You should really replace in pairs, the bush most likely won't be replaceable with OEM parts though and you'll have to replace the full suspension arm.

If you decide to act on advisories rather than ignore them, be prepared for some flak if you are daft enough to comment about it on a web forum! ahem. :p

Had an advisory like that for 5 years (after 5 years it has mysteriously vanished as an advisory ever since, despite never being replaced) on the family V70 when I was growing up. Look at the part yourself, if it's got actual damage to it, and not simply cosmetic wear from dirt and being a perishable item, replace in pairs.

Deteriorated but no play, seems a bit odd, if it's worn out, there would be play! Maybe it just looks worn, but isn't actually worn, perhaps just mucky?

Usually applies to ball joints which are part of the arm and cannot be replaced on their own in some cases.

Bushes can all be replaced without replacing any arms (at least in most cases!).

Replaces in pairs as mentioned.

Thanks, I'll look into it replacing them in pairs, probably some time in the summer. Get it over and done with.

Then I hear I need tracking and alignment done afterwards.

You don't do tracking on modern cars, it's always a 4 wheel alignment. Should be done once a year anyway because bumps and potholes etc will knock alignment out on any wheel. It's free to have checked, you only pay for the number of adjustments made.

Looks like a couple of hundred quid should fix it, cost is mostly labour.

Surely you would ask the mot tester ?

I would but they are closed now :p Do you have their home number?

Yes it's 0800crymeariver
Posts baffle me, first thing is grab mot tester and show me what the issue is if any..

But surely when you go and pick up the car if there is any advisories then you ask them there and then ?
In my case, I noted the advisories (tyres and corrosion on some brake pipe connections) and got both resolved, didn’t ask the tester as I was happy to go with his advice, I used a council MOT test centre who have no reason nor motive to embellish anything, which is why I use them instead of Kack fit in the first place.
