Had the Z4 MOT'd yesterday (no advisories, woop) and it was only 35 quid. Well, it cost me £1.85 to get the money out of the Post Office cash machine nearby as I had no cash on me - paying for my own money annoys me no end and I'll usually walk a mile to avoid it. Grr.

Anyway, so not a bad price I feel. I think the cost is limited to about 50 or 55 quid, but I'm sure there must be some variance. I can't say I've seen it cheaper than what I got it for.

So, how much did your last one cost and where abouts was it?

£35 - Gunness, near S****horpe.

I've seen people take money out at the post office counter via LINK (not a Post Office account) free of charge, but anyway :p

Paid £28 last time. Most expensive MOT for years as my old £25 garage is no longer convenient :(

I pay a fortune for Mercedes servicing etc, might as well keep the MOT which doesn't feature in the service history as cheap as possible.

There is a garage between Basingstoke and Reading on the B3349 that have a big sign outside saying they will do an MOT for £29 - Could be EX VAT haven't enquired yet!

Last year I had to take my car to a MOT AUTOTEST centre : http://www.motest.co.uk/ due to a **** up with the local garage.

It cost £55, and they found 3/4 faults relating to random things (all easy and minor - 5 mins work TOPS!). They wrote out an invoice and asked for £130 for labor, with parts being extra. I said I'd do it myself - drove to another garage where I'd had the brakes changed recently and asked them to tighten the hand brake cable. I took it back to have the free retest, and it passed. I'm sure they must make a fortune from ripping people off who have no idea about the size/parts of jobs :/
