Ok so a private garage sold me my Rover 25 with two months left on its MOT.
He said he'l do a 12 month MOT on it & even suggested garage down the road from my address.

Now it will fail its MOT because the connection between the box has come disconnect from the midsection because of rust (looks like a cheap box). Now someone i know took a look at it & said i should get a economy box for £45-50 from a local supply garage & he'l fit it.

The MOT runs out in 3 weeks so i can take it straight in but im wondering how this works. Do i pay for the MOT & he pays for the parts/fitting etc???

I could get it sorted straight away but why should i pay for it......He was aware the box was on its way out buts its become disconnected over the past few days. Ive used metal tape in the mean time.

Ive also just moved address...

How on earth would we know what private arrangement you and the private garage has made?

I assume he will pay for it all as you said he would do a 12 month MOT on it. You havent mentioned if you have discussed it with him yet either...

Fair enough i wasnt aware if garages had normal practice for this sort of thing. Il pop in and speak with him before i go to the garage.

Should have got the private garage to get the MOT done before you took the car away. If you didn't get it in writing from them you may find he refuses to pay for any work needed.
